Missing Matthew sightings reported after TV appeal

by Hayley Robinson

A TV programme featuring Sittingbourne man Matthew Green led to new sightings being reported.

The Missing People helpline received three calls from viewers saying the self-employed roofer had been seen in London, West Yorkshire and Doncaster after he was featured on the programme Missing 2011, which was screened on BBC One on Thursday last week.

The show featured his parents, Pauline and Jim Green, who spoke about their efforts to find their son, who was last seen at the family home in Rock Road, Sittingbourne, at 8pm on April 8 last year.

He told his parents he was going to stay with a friend in Mile End, east London, for the weekend but never returned.

His bank account has not been touched and his passport has not been used. He was 26 years old at the time he disappeared.

DCI Susie Harper, of Kent Police, said: "The team investigating Matthew’s disappearance will be following up all three lines of inquiry.

"Matthew has now been missing for just over a year.

"We welcome any information about Matthew’s present whereabouts and ask anyone who thinks they might have seen him to contact Kent Police on 01622 690690 or Missing People on 0500 700700."
