Firefighters spent three hours putting out about 60 tonnes of horse manure which had been set fire to.

Two pumps from Sittingbourne were called to the smouldering pile in Dully Road, Tonge, at 6.10pm on Tuesday.

They used a hose to dampen the manure while the farmer used his JCB to spread the pile out to ensure it was put out completely.

It is believed youngsters started the fire.
