Rubbish collections to the west of Sittingbourne town centre were suspended today due to the snow.

The decision was made by the contractor Verdant on the grounds of safety.

Swale Borough Council is advising residents affected by the cancellation of the service to put their rubbish out for collection tomorrow (weather permitting). If the contractor is unable to make the collection tomorrow the remaining waste will be collected at some point before Christmas Eve.

Clinical waste or bulky items that should have been taken away today will now be collected on Monday.

If the snow continues to cause problems on the road then visit the website http://www.swale.gov.uk/snow for further details.
