Pedestrian hit by car in King Street, Ramsgate

A woman thought to be in her 60s has been seriously injured after apparently being hit by a car in King Street, Ramsgate, this afternoon.

Early reports suggest it could be a hit and run.

The Kent Air Ambulance was at the scene.

A spokesman for ambulance service SECAmb said: "We responded to reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle in King Street, Ramsgate at approximately 4.20pm today.

"Ambulance crews in a car and an ambulance attended the scene along with the air ambulance.

"The female pedestrian was assessed and treated at the scene and has been taken to William Harvey Hospital as a priority."

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police, along with SECAmb, are currently at the scene of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian."

King Street at its junction with Brunswick Street was closed.
