Margate: Car crashed into window of Link Beauty in Athelstan Road, Cliftonville

A witness has spoken of the moment a car ploughed through the window of a hair salon.

Bozena Miskovicova, 53, of Northdown Road, Cliftonville, says the occupants of the car are lucky to be alive after the crash in Athelstan Road, Cliftonville, at 9.20pm on Sunday night which badly damaged Link Beauty.

Mrs Miskovicova, who lives just across the road from the incident said she was incredibly scared for the people inside the car.

She said: "It was very scary yesterday.

"I had gone to bed when my husband's sister, Anna, started jumping up and down and shouting oh my God something bad has happened.

"We heard this huge bang and looked out to see this, lots of people rushed out to help.

"We were very shocked and I was scared that the people inside were dead.

"They are very lucky, if they had have hit the wall instead of the glass I think they would have died.

"It was a very stressful time yesterday for everyone who saw it."

Police were called just before 9.20pm and flats above the business were evacuated.

The building will be cordoned off until it has been declared safe.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
