Car crashes into Thanet Tasty Chicken in Northdown Road, Margate

A car crashed through a fried chicken shop’s window in the early hours triggering an arrest.

The accident happened when a red Nissan Micra smashed into the front of Thanet Tasty Chicken in Northdown Road, Margate, shortly before 4.30am yesterday.

A man was arrested while emergency services closed the road, police said.

Pictures have emerged showing the shop window smashed, doors caved in, with glass scattered over the pavement and damage to a Micra’s bonnet.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at 4.29am on Sunday 10 September to a report that a car had collided with a shop in Northdown Road, Margate.

“Officers attended the scene where a man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

“The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.”

It is understood no injuries have been reported.
