Delicious local and international flavours on offer at Broadstairs Food Festival

Delicious Italian dishes, scrumptious fresh fish and mouthwatering Thai cooking tickled the tastebuds at the second Broadstairs Food Festival at the weekend.

Organisers built on the success of last year's event to offer a three-day food fayre at Victoria Gardens and Viking Bay, a cocktail and cabaret evening with live entertainment and a 'kitchen theatre', where local chefs and a catering team from Thanet College demonstrated their expertise.

Also on the menu and new for 2010 was the children's festival, which aimed to introduce youngsters to nutritious, healthy food and the importance of supporting local farmers and producers.

In total, more than 70 stallholders showcased the best of Kent food, with meat, fish and homemade jams, as well as cupcakes, bread and sausage rolls, among the varied produce on offer.

The free festival, which was endorsed by celebrity chef and ex-Thanet College student Gary Rhodes, also raised valuable funds for Action Against Hunger. The charity helps more than four million people at risk of malnutrition every year.
