Wearing breathing apparatus and using a hose reel jet, firefighters extinguished the flames by 6pm.

SECAmb paramedics treated two people for smoke inhalation following the incident, believed to have been sparked by an electrical fault.

Residents nearby reported seeing Verde Road, which runs between the Co-op and Cafe Grill, shut as a result.

The ambulance service has also been contacted for comment.
