Union Row flat explosion in Margate leaves one person with burns

An explosion in a ground-floor flat left one person with burns and also damaged windows.

Fire crews were called to a three-storey property in Union Row, Margate, at 10.10pm yesterday following a blast.

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "Upon arrival, crews discovered that the force of the blast had damaged windows in the premises and left one person with minor burns, which were treated by paramedics.

"The cause of the incident is thought to be accidental."

Kent Police also attended. Kent Fire and Rescue Service were stood down at 11.03pm.

Emergency services have been contacted for more information.
