Fundraising page to help save home of dad Steven Ford whose twins were drowned by killer mum in Margate

A fundraising page has been set up to help a grieving dad at risk of losing his home after his killer wife launched a bitter divorce bid.

Kent Online yesterday revealed Samantha Ford, who was jailed last year for drowning her twins 23-month-old Jake and Chloe in the bath at her Margate home on Boxing Day 2018, wants to pursue divorce proceedings against estranged husband Steven.

While the dad wants to divorce her, he says she will push to make the financial element complicated and it will end up in court, with legal fees totalling around £30,000.

In an email from the psychiatric unit she is being held in, it states she is also looking to explore the option of selling his house, which he shared with Jake and Chloe, in Charing, near Ashford.

"It's frightening to think I could lose my home after everything I've had to deal with," said Mr Ford.

"I worked very hard to build a life for me and my family and my home is all that's left.

"To lose that too would finish me."

But well-wishers wanting to support him have jumped into action and set up fundraising pages to help raise money to cover the legal fees to fight her bid.

His mother, desperate not to see her son lose his home after losing his beloved children, has also set up a fundraiser.

Mr Ford admits he is overwhelmed by the public support and torn by accepting help.

"I've never had any financial help in my life, but I don't have any other option," he said.

Samantha Ford was living in Castle Drive near Westwood Cross when she killed her children.

Her actions were described as a twisted act of vengeance against her estranged husband, Steven, during a trial at the Old Bailey.

The mum was sentenced to 10 years - to be served at the Trevor Gibbens psychiatric unit until she is deemed fit for prison - after entering a guilty plea of manslaughter by diminished responsibility.

Mr Ford had been going down the route of filing for divorce, but says this push from her will make it more complicated and expensive.

"I don't know what grounds she could possibly have, but it's clear she wants to punish me as much as possible and ruin my life," he said.

"She has destroyed me financially, professionally and mentally."
