Ramsgate Fried Chicken in Margate under investigation after being accused of delivering partially-eaten food to customer

A takeaway is under investigation after being accused of delivering food partially-eaten by another customer.

Thanet District Council is looking into claims Ramsgate Fried Chicken in Margate retrieved a meal from one address as it was the wrong order - and took it to another.

Jess Oakley from Birchington said on Saturday evening she ordered from the takeaway via Just Eat.

"After our delivery being 30 minutes late, I called them to see where our food was," she said.

"They told us the driver had just left and we would get our food as soon as possible.

"About 15 minutes later, the food arrived and whilst I temporarily left the room, my partner started to eat his food."

But Ms Oakley soon realised the order was wrong and phoned Ramsgate Fried Chicken at 9.55pm.

"They told us to bag up what we hadn't eaten to give to the right people.

"So now we have eaten somebody else's meal, handled their food, and given it back to the driver to get our own food."

She continued: "It’s bad enough that it happened, but with Covid-19 this is awful."

Ms Oakley managed to get hold of the other customer, Rosie, who confirmed she had received her order as it matched up.

"Rosie had her food delivered at 10.15pm and they tried giving her ice cream too, and she said the food was wrong," she said.

'They told us to bag up what we hadn't eaten to give to the right people...'

She told Ms Oakley the driver had to go out again to a third address to get the correct food.

"We ate one piece of chicken and Rosie had two pieces of chicken and hot wings missing," she added.

"This is reason to believe that the third family also had eaten food and bagged it up."

A spokesperson for Thanet District Council said the case is "currently under investigation".

Ramsgate Fried Chicken has been contacted for comment.
