Now hear this, by kmfm's Johnny Lewis

Step forward the good people of Thanet for a Lewis Community Award.
From time to time on air and in my column I like to mention those people who I think deserve a public pat on the back for their actions.
First up are those kind-hearted listeners who rang in to offer money to buy a new bike for a little local lad, Joshua, who had his £400 dream machine stolen by heartless thieves.
No sooner had I broadcast the story, the 'phones started ringing. And when I opened up the lines for pledges, we had raised enough - in the space it took to play one record.
How’s that for generosity?
Time and again the people of Thanet respond to appeals on the radio and in our sister newspaper the Isle of Thanet Extra - and often they are people who find it hard to make ends meet.
Next up for a Lewis 'well done’ on behalf of Thanet are Talia and Evan Pepper, two young sisters who organised and arranged an afternoon of fun activities and a picnic for their schoolfriends and their grandads. Their Grandads Quest event was to raise funds for the Dad’s Quest appeal that was launched by their mum Charlie in memory of her father Michael who died from prostate cancer. The appeal, which our radio and newspaper are supporting, aims to raise £16,000 for mobile scanners for use in Thanet.
And finally, I want to hear your tales of camping in the great British outdoors. Myself and Donna are off to Somerset for a well-earned break; first time I went camping was as a youngster in north Norfolk (when 10CC were in the charts with Wall Street Shuffle - yes, THAT long ago) and I was drenched in the biggest thunderstorm the area had for years.
So listeners, I want to hear your camping tales when I get back. Carry On Camping.
Catch up with Johnny during the week from 7am-11am and on The Vinyl Years every Sunday from 7pm. Emailjlewis@kmfm.co.uk
