Cyclist hit by car on A28 Canterbury Road at St Nicholas at Wade, Thanet

A cyclist has been airlifted to a London hospital in a serious condition after he was struck by a car on a busy road.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the collision on the A28 Canterbury Road near St Nicholas At Wade, Thanet, at about 9.30am.

An ambulance service spokesman said: "Ambulance crews attended and were joined at the scene by the air ambulance service.

"The cyclist was assessed and treated before being airlifted to King's College Hospital in a serious condition."

The crash took place between the A253 turn-off at Sarre, and the St Nicholas At Wade roundabout which connects with the A299 Thanet Way.

The road reopened at around 3pm.

The crash comes after a motorcyclist died in a collision in St Nicholas At Wade yesterday afternoon.
