A young woman woke to find a burglar in her bedroom.

The victim, aged in her 20s, was asleep in a house in Walpole Road, Margate, when she was roused by the intruder at about 3am.

He asked for cash and tried to take the victim's mobile phone before leaving the room.

The woman later noticed cash was missing from her purse and elsewhere in the house.

The raid happened on Sunday, January 3, and police have now released details as they issue an e-fit of the suspect.

He is described as a stocky black man, wearing a hooded top and dark jeans.
