Police and fire service called to incident at block of flats in Sweyn Road, Margate

A road has been closed by police amid “threats made” by a person in a block of flats.

Three police cars and two fire engines have been pictured in Sweyn Road in Cliftonville, Margate at 9am this morning.

Fire crews are in attendance at the block of flats to “assist” officers.

Details of the incident have not yet been confirmed, but it is understood some residents have been evacuated from their homes.

A KFRS spokesperson said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service has been called to assist Kent Police at a block of flats in Sweyn Road. Two fire engines have been sent to the scene.”

A police spokesperson added: “Officers along with other emergency services have been in attendance following threats made by a person inside the property.

“A cordon has been set up as a precaution while officers deal with the incident.”
