Trapped seagull in Ramsgate rescued by RSPCA

Rescuers came to the aid of a young seagull trapped in a small gap between a fence panel and a school outbuilding in Ramsgate.

A member of the public could hear a scratching sound yet could not see where the unfortunate bird had become stuck.

They called the RSPCA, and inspector Brian Milligan saved the gull from its entrapment in Windmill Walk.

Brian, who managed to use a reach and rescue pole to grab the bird, said: “This poor gull was in a flap after getting well and truly stuck in the small gap, about four inches wide, between a fence panel and a school outbuilding.

"It was lucky someone heard the poor bird scratching when they did and called us otherwise this may have had a very different outcome.

“We rely on the public to be our eyes and ears and always urge people to keep an eye out for wildlife who may need our help.

"This juvenile was taken to the RSPCA Thanet branch for some TLC before being released back into the wild.”
