He was due to stand trial at Canterbury Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday) but before a jury was sworn he pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm and damaging a sideboard unit.

Henry, of Clements Road, Ramsgate, had also been charged with intentional strangulation and damaging a ground-floor window during the same incident.

However, his pleas of not guilty to those two offences were accepted by the prosecution and ordered to be left on the court file.

The court heard Henry has a borderline personality disorder and a "traumatic relationship" history.

Sentencing was adjourned until October 20 so probation and psychiatric reports can be obtained.

Prosecutor Ben Wild told Recorder David Elvin KC that a restraining order would not be required.

Mr Wild added that although intentional strangulation had been denied, the circumstances of that charge would be considered as part of the ABH offence.

Henry was remanded in custody.
