A299 Thanet Way westbound between Minster and Monkton near Ramsgate closed due to multi-vehicle crash

A major road was closed throughout the morning rush hour after a crash involving six vehicles.

The pile-up happened on the London-bound A299 Thanet Way at Minster, near Ramsgate, just after 6.30am.

No one is thought to have been badly hurt, although a woman has been taken to hospital.

At one point, traffic was stretching from the B2190 Minster Road roundabout to the A253 Monkton Roundabout.

The vehicles have since been recovered and the road has reopened.

A police spokesperson said earlier: “Kent Police is attending a report of a collision involving multiple vehicles on the A299 Thanet Way between Monkton and Minster.

“Officers were called to the scene at 6.34am on Friday 1 December 2023.

“A woman has been taken to a local hospital as a precaution.”

The fire service was also called to the scene.

A spokesperson said: “One fire engine attended the London-bound carriageway, and crews helped to make the scene safe. Kent Police and SECAmb also attended.”
