Body found in River Medway

Police say they cannot yet confirm a body found in a river is that of missing man Dave Richardson.

The body was recovered by Kent Police’s Marine Unit from the River Medway off Cannon Lane, Tonbridge, on Friday, after it was discovered by a Tonbridge neighbourhood officer.

The discovery is being treated as an unexplained death until a post mortem examination is carried out and identification procedures completed.

Officers have been carrying out searches in the area after Tonbridge man David Richardson was reported missing from his home River Lawn Road on Friday March 6.

Clothing, believed to belong to him, was found on the bank of the River Medway, that same afternoon.

The man’s family have been told about the discovery of the body in the river.
