Pensioner's car in crash with bus

A PENSIONER was taken to hospital after the car he was driving collided with a bus near Tonbridge station.

The accident happened at a bus stop in Quarry Hill Road on afternoon, causing major traffic problems in the town centre.

The emergency services were called to the scene at about 2.45pm. Firefighters from Tonbridge were the first on the scene and gave the man oxygen until paramedics arrived.

The driver from Tonbridge, who was aged about 70 and in a Ford Escort Estate, was taken to hospital by ambulance.

A woman who was helping at the scene of the accident also required medical attention after fainting.

The front of the car was badly damaged while the front right corner of the bus suffered minor damage. The passengers were transferred to a different bus following the accident.
