Securitas trial in final stages

JURORS at the Old Bailey have heard from the last of the defendants to take the stand in the £53 million Tonbridge Robbery Trial.

John Fowler, one of seven men accused of being behind Britain’s biggest ever cash robbery, did not stand to give evidence in his defence this week, thereby bringing cross-examination in the trial to a close.

Defence counsels are now due to sum up their cases before the trial reaches its scheduled conclusion in January 2008.

Lea Rusha, of Lambersart Close, Southborough; Stuart Royle, of Allen Street, Maidstone; Jetmir Bucpapa, of Hadlow Road, Tonbridge; Roger Coutts, of The Green, Welling; John Fowler, of Chart Hill Road, Staplehurst; and Emir Hysenaj, of New Road, Crowborough, have all pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to kidnap, conspiracy to rob and conspiracy to have in their possession a firearm.

A seventh man, Keith Borer, from Hampstead Lane, Yalding, stands accused of dishonestly receiving £6,100 of stolen Securitas money, which he denies.
