Katie Glover, of Silver Close, Tonbridge accused of texting ex-girlfriend's son saying she would stab him

A woman who threatened to stab her ex-girlfriend’s son could face jail, a court heard.

Katie Glover had been in an on-off relationship with partner Helen Edmonds for nearly four years, but was arrested after sending threatening messages during an argument.

The court was told the 29-year-old, from Tonbridge, left the couple’s home in Silver Close earlier this month to have a break from the relationship.

It is understood the pair previously argued about Miss Edmond’s 22-year-old son and his girlfriend who were living with them.

On April 8 during a text conversation Miss Edmonds said she still had a lot to think about regarding their relationship.

Miss Glover replied hours later with a number of expletive-laden threats.

The court heard in a series of messages she wrote: “F*** you Helen, thanks for ruining my life once again. I actually thought we were solid this time.

“I will be waiting for your son with a very big knife that is not a threat that is a promise. I have nothing so you will have nothing too.

“I am not threatening Helen, I am promising. I hate him and I want him dead. You should start saying your goodbyes hahaha.”

The court was told the defendant, who is a general assistant at Tonbridge School sports centre, sent pictures of kitchen knives covered in blood and said: “Tell them sweet dreams from me.”

After not receiving a response, Glover tried to apologise and asked her ex-girlfriend whether she still loved her.

Miss Edmonds said she did not. The defendant continued her threats and said: “Right, I am going back to your house to stab your son."

She drove to the Silver Close property and broke in by smashing a door panel before taking three dogs and a cat.

She did not interact with Miss Edmonds' 22-year-old son and his girlfriend who were upstairs on the phone to police.

Defending, John Roberts, said friction was caused by the young couple living in the same house. He added: “They were all living together and the son has never done a day's work in his life. It caused rows.

“She [Glover] went away to sort it out but it all came to a head. Her texts were sent out of frustration. They were clearly empty threats, I am sure they were worrying though.

“This is the breakdown of a relationship that has got out of control. She [Glover] accepts she has drunk too much in the past which was a factor in this case. She is seeing an alcohol councillor.”

During the hearing at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Miss Glover pleaded guilty to criminal damage to property valued under £5,000, sending threatening messages, drink driving, using a vehicle without insurance and driving without a licence.

Chair of the bench, Paul Amans, said the court would need to consider a custodial sentence due to the severity of threats made.

Glover will stand before the court again on June 16 for sentencing.
