Witnesses sought to alleged sexual assault

TWO people who may have witnessed an alleged serious sexual assault on a woman are being sought by detectives.

An incident happened on Saturday between 1.15am and 1.35am in Lyons Crescent, Tonbridge, near the junction with Lockside. At the time, two people are thought to have been walking nearby, along Lyons Crescent.

Charles Wash, 21, of Carpenters Lane, Hadlow, was arrested and charged with rape shortly afterwards. Mr Wash, who appeared before Sevenoaks magistrates on Monday, was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on October 22.

Det Insp Dominic Kilbride said: "A man has been charged in connection with this incident but we would still like to talk to the two people as it is quite possible that, without realising it, they may have information that will help the investigation. If you were walking in Lyons Crescent around 1.15am on Saturday please contact police.'

Contact police on 01732 379217 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
