Tunbridge Wells Borough Council launches public consultation on three key council financial documents

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council’s cabinet has given the go-ahead for public consultation to begin on three key documents that set out the way forward in the next financial year.

They are in draft form and will not be considered again by the cabinet or full council until after the public consultation has taken place.

People are being asked to give their views on the draft budget and on the draft corporate priorities for 201/16 which are based on the objectives set out in the recently adopted Five Year Plan.

The third and final document people are being asked to consider is the draft Property Asset Management Plan.

This explains how the council proposes to manage its property estate during next the financial year.

In preparing the draft budget the council has been mindful of the difficult economic climate and likely cuts of over £650,000 in government funding for 2015/16.

The draft budget includes a proposed 2 per cent increase in Council Tax. This is the equivalent of £3.10 per year – less than 1p per day – for a full-paying band D property, making the annual charge 44p per day.

Tunbridge Wells will still have one of the lowest levels of Council Tax in the county.
