Fire sweeps through derelict house

A blaze caused serious damage to a derelict houseearly today

It was the second fire in the empty property at Culverden Down, Tunbridge Wells. Last summer the house suffered fire damage and this morning’s blaze destoryed the roof.

The cause of the latest fire is not yet known.

Neighbours raised the alarm after seeing smoke pouring from the old house, a converted stable block.

Three pumps from Tunbridge Wells and Rusthall fought the fire, which started in an upper floor room, for more than four hours.

Firefighters left the scene at about 6.30am.
