Man suffers head injury in hit-run incident

POLICE are hunting the driver of a car which failed to stop after hitting a pedestrian in a Kent town.

The victim - a 26-year-old man - was walking along Church Road towards Tunbridge Wells town centre when he was struck by a burgundy BMW 5 series car that was travelling in the same direction.

The car involved drove off in the direction of the Assembly Hall.

The man suffered a head injury and was taken to Kent and Sussex Hospital in the town. He has since been discharged but may require further treatment.

Police are appealing for witnesses. PC Rachel Davie said: "The car will now have damage on the driver's side bumper and if anyone has any information about a car that matches this description please contact police."

Anyone with information about this incident - which took place at around 10.35pm on Saturday - is urged to call police on 01732 379217 or Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
