Police investigate after Tunbridge Wells Mosque receives Christmas card containing offensive message about Allah and Muhammad

Police are investigating an offensive Christmas card which was sent to Tunbridge Wells Mosque.

A spokesman for Kent Police confirmed while no one had reported the hate mail to the force they were aware of it and will be carrying out inquiries and offering support to the Camden Road Islamic and Cultural Centre.

The mosque received the message, which included highly offensive remarks about the prophet Muhammad and Allah, on Tuesday and posted a picture on its Facebook page before later removing it.

A spokesman from the mosque declined to comment on the incident saying they would prefer to avoid such negativity at this time of year.

Facebook users expressed outrage, with some sending messages directly to the mosque.

Sam Taylor said: "This is really bloody nasty. What happened to goodwill to all men? And love thy neighbour seems an accurate reminder for this poop that sent the card."

Posting on the centre's page, Christie Prince said: "I can't believe you received such a terrible card. I hope you have a wonderful holiday and that the negative card is replaced with thousands of warm positive well wishes. I may not share the same faith, but I hope Allah shines blessings on you."
