Fire alarm behind evacuation of Royal Victoria Place in Tunbridge Wells

Shoppers were left standing out in the cold after an automatic fire alarm forced the evacuation of a busy shopping centre this afternoon.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was made aware of an alarm activation in Royal Victoria Place in Tunbridge Wells at around 1.30pm, but didn't need to send any crews.

There were no reports of any actual fire and it's thought the centre, off Grosvenor Road, re-opened shortly after.
