A WOMAN is in a serious condition in hospital after she was struck by a Jeep and became trapped beneath it.

Police officers were called to level 4 of the Royal Victoria car park in Tunbridge Wells at about 2.50pm on Thursday.

The woman was taken to Kent and Sussex Hospital with serious injuries. Her condition was described on Friday as "serious but stable".

The woman, who is in her 60s, lives in the village of Brenchley, near Tunbridge Wells. She has not been named.

The car park was closed to incoming traffic while emergency services attended the incident. It was reopened shortly before 5pm.

Police said the woman driver of the black Jeep was unhurt.
