BELLS Yew Green will celebrate their diamond jubilee year in the glare of the media spotlight after being selected as an ECB NatWest Cricket Force Showcase Club for 2007.

The diminutive, village green club on the outskirts of Tunbridge Wells is one of only four showcase clubs to be selected by the ECB from over 1,000 applicant clubs.

The Showcase billing means Bells Yew Green will receive occasional coaching visits from Kent and England cricketers and receive the support of the ECB’s management team.

As part of the scheme BYG will also be featured in the national media and an ECB dvd to be recorded at the club on Saturday, March 31.

Bells Yew Green club president, the writer and comedian Bob "the Cat" Bevan, said: "It is further recognition of the hard work put in by many of our members, the juniors and the parents."
