Blaze breaks out in first-floor flat in Rye Road, Hawkhurst, near Cranbrook

Firefighters tackled a blaze in a first-floor flat last night.

A crew were called out to the property in Rye Road, Hawkhurst, near Cranbrook at shortly before 9.30pm after a 999 call reported smoke billowing from one of the flat's windows.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus to enter the flat and put to the flames and the property suffered about 10% fire damage as well as smoke damage.

No one was injured and the crew left the scene at about 10.20pm.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
