Five of the best live music gigs happening in Kent this November

While live music tends to wind down at this time of year in favour of pantos and Christmas carols, don’t worry - we’ve found five gems to enjoy this November.

From sweaty punk bands to rock ‘n’ roll tribute nights, we’ve picked five of the best gigs happening this month in Kent so you can still get your live music fix.

WSTR, The Forum

Fans of punk, pop-punk, grunge and just generally anything that made you want to jump into a mosh pit in the 2010s will want to book tickets to this one. Liverpudlian band WSTR released a string of bangers with their debut album back in 2016 and have since graced the pages of Kerrang! magazine, signed to Hopeless Records and played at Download Festival. Expect an onslaught of bouncy riffs, high energy and a very messy night…

When: Saturday, November 12 at The Forum in Tunbridge Wells. Book online here.

Hullabaloo, The New Chimneys

This Ashford pub prides itself on being a warm, welcoming local boozer that keeps its punters entertained with live music, trivia nights and sports games. This month, the pub will welcome Kent-based band Hullabaloo for a night of jazz, jive, rock ‘n’ roll and swing music. The band are a favourite with pub crowds across the county, often selling out gigs like this, so don’t hang about if you fancy going along. You can also catch the feel-good group at other venues before the end of the year, including the Ship Inn in Gillingham and the Whitstable Umbrella Centre.

When: Sunday, November 13 at the New Chimneys in Ashford. No need to book.

Faux Fighters and Kings of the Stone Age, Booking Hall

We couldn’t make a list of great gigs without including a top tribute night. This Dover double header will see two tribute acts take on the biggest tunes in rock from the Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age. The Faux Fighters are known for their explosive covers of songs such as The Pretender and Best of You, while the Kings of the Stone Age will blast out the band’s biggest hits, including No One Knows and Go With the Flow. You might want to bring your ear plugs for this one!

When: Saturday, November 19 at the Booking Hall in Dover. Book online here.

Baskery, Ramsgate Music Hall

If you want to hear something a little different this month, a Baskery gig could be just the ticket. The three sisters, who have been described as a blend of ‘the Dixie Chicks, Led Zeppelin and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’, have opened for Robbie Williams on his arena tour and signed a record deal with Warner Bros., so they have some pretty strong credentials under their belt for their Ramsgate gig. While they definitely have an eclectic sound, their use of instruments such as the banjo to create a unique punk-country-folk atmosphere is something to behold.

When: Saturday, November 19 at Ramsgate Music Hall. Book online here.

Funke and the Two Tone Baby, Poco Loco

Funke and the Two Tone Baby, the pseudonym of Kent-based multi-instrumentalist Dan Turnbull, is a one-man music machine. This talented musician has performed at a number of the county’s biggest festivals, including Broadstairs Folk Week and Faversham Hop Festival, and always has the crowd cheering for more at the end. His impressive mix of folk singalongs, blues riffs and party anthems, all with a modern twist and performed live and solo, is truly awesome to watch - not to mention an awful lot of fun.

When: Sunday, November 27 at Poco Loco in Chatham. Book online here.
