James Blunt to play the Hop Farm Festival at Paddock Wood in July

James Blunt will be making a return to the county when he plays the Hop Farm Festival in July.

The 39-year-old who had massive hits with You're Beautiful and Goodbye Mr Lover will be joining Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson at the festival near Paddock Wood this summer.

The festival, which was cancelled last year after poor ticket sales, is returning this year under new promoters.

Blunt, a former soldier, has sold over 20 million albums worldwide.

The singer-songwriter became engaged at Christmas to his long-time girlfriend Sofia Wellesley, 30-year-old ancestor of the Duke of Wellington, the hero of the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. The new-look Hop Farm Festival takes place at the Paddock Wood site on Friday, July 4 and Sunday, July 6.

Wilson will be topping the bill on the Saturday where he will be joined by The Feeling - who had the 2005 hit Fill My Little World. Caro Emerald, Squeeze and Paul Carrack, who appeared in Tunbridge Wells last week, are also on the bill.

This year’s festival will also feature a main stage in the arena, plus The Jazz and Blues Lounge, The Comedy Tent, and The Unsigned stage to support emerging artists and local talent from the South East of England.

The Hop Farm Festival will also offer a Kidz Zone, plus Hop Farm Band Stands throughout the site all programmed with a vast array of music experiences, a Silent Disco for those who wish to continue dancing the night away, a vintage fairground for all the family and circus performers.
