Dartford Festival July 2015 featuring The Feeling, The Selecter and From The Jam with Bruce Foxton

Summer festival season continues with a free two-day event that brings together veteran musicians, modern pop acts and reality TV stars.

The headline acts at this weekend’s Dartford Festival appeal to music fans of all ages and are sure to get the audience on their feet. Iconic ska band The Selecter will round off the show in style on Saturday, July 18.

Having originally formed the band back in 1979, lead singer Pauline Black left to pursue an acting career three years later. Since the group relaunched in 2011, they have not just fallen back on their past hits, but have continued to grow musically and win new fans along the way.

Also on stage on Saturday are boy band Room 94 and Made in Chelsea star Andy Jordan, who showcased his musical talents on the hit Channel 4 reality show.

Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Calum Scott made a big impression on the public earlier this year and will have the chance to perform live to his fans on Saturday.

Closing the show on Sunday, July 19 are From The Jam, featuring former The Jam bassist Bruce Foxton. Along with Russell Hastings and Steve Barnard, Foxton performs classic songs from the punk/mod band’s extensive back catalogue, which includes 18 top 40 singles.

Earlier that day, the line-up will include Brit Award nominees The Feeling, who picked up the Ivor Novello Songwriters of the Year Award in 2007 for hits such as Never Be Lonely and Fill My Little World. Rock, soul and psychedelic sounds will be provided by Stone Foundation, who have opened for The Specials on their UK arena tour.

Other entertainment across the two days includes performances by Stereosonics, Remedy, Maven and a number of local dance schools.

Following the ‘Generation Dartford’ appeal for fresh talent to take part in the festival, local artists Resident Only, Beergut 100, Monte Zuma, Tom Johnston and Zac Vincent will be playing for the thousands of people expected to visit the park over the weekend.

Meanwhile, in the exhibition marquee, you can learn about bees, astronomy, flowers, chillis and more, with a series of talks, demonstrations and activities by local organisations.

The festival is organised by Dartford Borough Council and takes place in Central Park on Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19. Entry is free.
